After-School All-Stars (ASAS) Chicago is a leading school-based provider of out-of-school time programs to youth in Chicago. We provide free, innovative and impactful programs for 30,000 students in kindergarten through eighth grades. Our programs take place at school sites and are fully integrated into the local school community. ASAS Chicago is one of 14 chapters in the ASAS National network providing academic support, enrichment activities and health and fitness opportunities, as well as specific support to schools to respond to crises around high school graduation, obesity, civic engagement and work force readiness.
Chicago Cares builds volunteer experiences that mobilize and inspire people to make Chicago a stronger community.
We work closely with community leaders to identify and research critical needs and develop targeted programs which mobilize thousands of volunteers to address those needs. Our programs make Chicago a better place to live for everyone. We inspire people to give of their time and energy, creating a real sense of community and shared responsibility.
Since 1991, Chicago Cares volunteers have completed more than 1.4 million hours of service through over 30,000 group volunteer projects.
Service-Learning is a teaching and learning methodology that connects classroom curriculum with identified community issues and needs. It engages students in projects that serve the community and build their social and academic capacities.
CPS Service-Learning works with a variety of service agencies to enhance social and academic learning among CPS students, develop character and citizenship skills, learn about community issues, develop an action plan for service and engage in meaningful service by working on a project that will make a difference.
